ルイジアナ州下院共和党がコロナの規制撤廃のための請願書を提出

さて掲題の件、ルイジアナ州の共和党下院が知事を訴えたようです。

Louisiana House GOP Trying to Yank Governor's Virus Rules

Louisiana House Republicans filed a petition Friday to revoke Gov. John Bel Edwards' coronavirus restrictions for a week, as lawmakers finished a special session in which they sought more power over the Democratic governor's emergency actions but appeared likely to see that effort vetoed.

Republicans are invoking a never-before-used process outlined in state law that allows a majority of House lawmakers to nullify the governor's public health emergency declaration — and all restrictions tied to it — with a petition.

想像に難くなくルイジアナ州は上院（70％ vs. 30%）・下院（65％ vs. 33%）とも共和党が圧倒しています。やろうと思えば何でも出来るわけです。彼らの主な主張はというと、

Republicans say Edwards’ statewide mask mandate, business restrictions and crowd size limits at football games and other events are too harsh seven months after the coronavirus outbreak began in Louisiana.

（共和党はルイジアナ州でコロナウイルスの流行が始まってから7ヶ月後でも（知事の）エドワーズが州全体のマスク義務、ビジネスの制限、フットボールの試合や他のイベントでの群衆のサイズ制限をかけるのはあまりにも過酷だと主張している。）

これに対して大学からメールが来ました。

The Louisiana House of Representatives recently sent a petition to Gov. John Bel Edwards to terminate his proclamation declaring a statewide public health emergency because of COVID-19. The petition could potentially prohibit the governor from “declaring, renewing, extending, or supplementing any state of public health emergency” for seven days.

（ルイジアナ州下院は先日、COVID-19のために州全体の公衆衛生上の緊急事態を宣言したジョン・ベル・エドワーズ知事の宣言を打ち切るように請願書を送った。この請願書は、知事が「州の公衆衛生緊急事態の宣言、更新、延長、補足」を7日間禁止する可能性がある。）

While the University's guidance is aligned with the governor's declaration of a public health emergency, it is not dependent upon that declaration. As such, the guidelines, policies, and practices implemented by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and approved by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors remain in effect.

また共和党州下院議員の請願に対して知事は訴え返したようです。

Gov. Edwards files lawsuit against petition ending COVID order

Edwards again stated that his Phase 3 Order and its restrictions remain in place and called the petition unconstitutional. He claimed that legislators did not consult with public health experts such as the Louisiana Department of Health before filing the petition, which he said is required in the state statute that the legislators have relied upon.
