一昨日、アストラゼネカ社とオックスフォード大学が共同で開発したワクチンの治験も良好な結果が得られた、と書きましたがひと悶着起きているようです。専門家によると、同社の情報開示の甘さが信頼性を低下させている、とか。

After Admitting Mistake, AstraZeneca Faces Difficult Questions About Its Vaccine

AstraZeneca has acknowledged a key mistake in the vaccine dosage received by some study participants, adding to questions about whether the vaccine’s apparently spectacular efficacy will hold up under additional testing.

Officials in the United States have noted that the results were not clear. It was the head of the flagship federal vaccine initiative — not the company — who first disclosed that the vaccine’s most promising results did not reflect data from older people.

それと私も単純に疑問に感じた、少ない投与量の方が良好な結果が得られたことに関してですが、

The biggest questions were, why was there such a large variation in the effectiveness of the vaccine at different doses, and why did a smaller dose appear to produce much better results? AstraZeneca and Oxford researchers said they did not know.

Everyone was moving very fast. We corrected the mistake and continued on with the study, with no changes to the study, and agreed with the regulator to include those patients in the analysis of the study as well.”
